About Methok Lee

Twisting and flow are the inevitable forces of transformation in all things. There is no absolute stillness—forms are constantly twisting, dissolving, and reshaping, always in a state of "becoming."
Methok Lee, born in Taiwan in 2004, currently
studying BA Fashion Communication Promotion at Central Saint Martins, she is an artist who explores the relationship between the self and the world. Her art is based on a variety of materials, with a particular proficiency in the integration of sculpture, digital visuals, and sound. Through these mediums, she creates worlds in which reality and illusion converge, thereby obscuring the distinctions between the two. Her artistic approach highlights distortion, ripples, and soft textures, frequently integrating pronounced contrasts to enhance visual impact.
Methok's creations are not confined to a singular form; she endeavors to encapsulate "the reality in transition," motivated by a desire to express that which is inherently inexpressible. Each work represents both an experimental endeavor and a process of deconstruction and reconstruction. For her, the artwork transcends the notion of a static object; it embodies a dynamic moment in flux—a movement, a wave that eludes definitive definition. This invites the viewer to engage in a process of perception while simultaneously contemplating the essence of self and existence.
For Methok, the act of creation is not a means of evasion nor a quest for definitive truths; rather, it represents an endeavor to coexist with ambiguity. Her artistic expression does not attempt to dominate or rectify this instability. However, it embraces it, uncovering beauty within the process of disintegration, significance amid the act of reshaping, and the immediacy inherent in transformation itself.
